Daughter of the King
See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!
Hola everyone! It has definitely been a long time since I have written a blog post, but it's never to late to start again. I have some news. This may be a surprise for some people, because I haven't talked about it much, and I only applied about two months ago. So I'm sorry if I never told you. But anyways :) God has called me on a new adventure. In about 2 weeks (oh my goodness, I didn't realize it was that soon) I will be leaving beautiful Manitoba and heading to San Diego, Baja California (it's called San Diego, but the base I will be staying at will be the San Antonio Campus) where I will be doing a DTS (Discipleship Training School). Which in short, is a school all about Jesus, and learning to walk in intimacy with Daddy God. I am excited to dive out of my comfort zone and experience God in ways I have never before. I am excited to grow, to be challenged, to meet people, to love people, and to be loved in return. I love Mexico, so i am super excited to go back! I am also excited to grow even more in my Spanish, because that is the most beautiful language, and I have already come so far. Thank you everyone for your prayers for me!! Thank you Blumenort Mennonite Church, I will miss you so much. And thank you Uncle Peter for always checking up on me :) I will continue to update you all what is going on in me, in my heart and all my new experiences. :) (This is also part of the school's project so I will have to make sure i update you all haha) Lots of love! Kendra :)

"For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, So that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way, bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the Kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. " Colossians 1:9-14 Just a bit of what I was reading this morning. It's cool to see how Paul would pray for others. Sometimes I don't know exactly how to pray for others, and this seems like a a pretty solid way to lift our brother and sister's in prayer. So I now have a date I will be heading back to Canada. The 20th of December. I will be super sad to leave but also excited. My spanish has grown incredibly, it has been worth those two years of studying at home by myself haha. If you wanna pray for me. Spanish, that it would grow even more. My relationship with Christian. OH man, yesterday we saw the most completely amazing sunset. It was so huge, and we had the most amazing spot to watch. Just before church in the evening we went to the beach in miramar, and serious. Here is a photo, haha thankful Christian's phone takes better pictures than la mia. And it was even better in person. Honestly I have seen the most beautiful sunsets in this country. Probably because of the beach, it adds a nice touch haha.
But wow, the water was all orange and red and pink, and it was the entire sky, and I was just so amazed haha. And it's almost Christmas time!!!! :) This weekend we decorated our house and we made Christmas cookies, and played Christmas music. And it was so special. There is something about Christmas time. I really think it is the most beautiful time of the year. I have some pictures but they are on my phone haha. I will maybe add them later. :) Thanks for reading! God bless you! He loves you. I remember I used to often post songs that I loved from the spanish church I go to. Here is another one that I absolutely love. These are what the lyrics mean roughly in english. I don't have anything to offer you There is nothing that can surprise you Just a broken heart Once again There is nothing that I can fall in love with more Nothing that I'm more passionate about Only your presence Only your gaze It makes me breathe I bow to you King who forgives all mistakes I bow to you Worthy, eternally worthy Awesome, Worthy I will only bow to you Only to you I surrender Sorry if my translation is bad. But that's it! :) Hola everybody. I am back here in Mexico as some of you probably know. I arrived September 10th. It is actually super cool because I had been speaking that I would be coming back in September but I really had no idea how I would get here. I could take the bus, but I still prefer not, as this would've been my first time travelling solo. But I am thankful that that I was able to travel down with a friend from my church that lives here in Mexico, he was visiting Canada for a few weeks. and I just booked my flight so it would be the same as his. And it just so happened that my maps(mejor amiga para siempre) that I would be staying with for a while, came back that exact day from her trip to Chihuahua. Everything worked out so well, glory to God. It's been so fun being here. I mean it was really hot at first, but you kind of get used to it. I was just thankful we have air conditioning in our bedroom so we could at least sleep well. I'm living with my friend Patty at the moment. It's been so good. We are quite similar. I am so blessed to have gotten to know her the first time I ever came to Mexico. I mean I knew of her before, but it was here we became maps haha. An average day here for me is I will wake up, read my bible and pray, I started making an effort to memorize long passages of scripture. Though I am still needing to work on discipline. I'll try and clean up if some things need to be cleaned up. And then usually around 12:00 sometimes 1:00, I will leave and catch a bus the la mision to hang out with the kids and help with their homework if I know how. Sometimes it's difficult with the language barriar, and their schools are a bit different here. La mision refers to Agua y Mas, it is a shelter for Mom's and the children, and it also takes in other children without their moms. We just call it the mission for short. Or Maggie's. The children are so beautiful and super crazy. I've also been spending time with Cristian, as many of you probably know already. He is my boyfriend. Since September 16th!! :) Thanks for continuing to check up on my blog, I will try and be more consistent these days. God bless you mucho. We also went to the Nacapule the other day :)
So, it's been a while. But I shall finally write about Africa! Thanks to you have been continually checking.
Wow, Uganda was so amazing. June 29, 2015 our plane left from Winnipeg, MB and off we went. I have never flown without my parents before so that in itself was an adventure. The total travel time was around 24 hours, with 2 flights just around 8 1/2 hours and one 1 1/2 hour flight to Minneapolis. Airplane food isn't my favorite. Then late in the evening around 11:00 or 10:00, I don't remember, we arrived in Entebbe, Uganda. Wooo. It was dark, so I couldn't see much of Uganda the first day. Then we drove 2 1/2 hours ish, and made it home to the lovely house of my cousin's Chasity and Nixon Katabira. And spent my first night having to sleep under a mosquito net. It was also pretty hot. but not as hot as I expected. I always slept right by the window, with the window wide open. Which was nice for the fresh air, but also then it made the mosque all the more louder. There was a mosque almost right across the street from where we lived, and they would have the muslim radio playing at any hour of the night, or they would be praying for everyone to hear. It can be amazing the devotion they have for their religion, but some people do need to sleep. I lived quite a bit differently there than I do in canada. I honestly had never hand washed my clothes before, nor showered from a bucket. And I never needed to toast my toast in a pan before, nor boil water before being able to drink it. I also was looked at like I was crazy when I asked where the muffin liners were, cause apparently they don't use those. But it's crazy how though all these things took more time, but somehow I had more time. Where in Canada everything can be done so fast, but yet I feel so much more busy. So what was I doing there? Well, for one I have wanted to go to Uganda for years already, My cousin got married in November 2012, and I even got a job just to be able to go to her wedding. But I still wasn't able to go. So now finally I was given the opportunity to go through global outreach missions. My cousin's run a youth empowerment ministry, it's a place where young people can come and be, every sunday they have a bible study, worship evening, games night or movie night. They also offer skill classes, where they can learn different skills, and they have home visits where they go and work in the community. Nixon also has a recording studio where he records his own music, and some of the young people have recorded songs too. During the first few weeks of my time there we went and did school ministry. Where we would go to some of the schools in the nearby villages. We would first play some games and have some fun with the kids. These kids where around highschool age. Then we would minister and teach. We would talk about the reality of HIV aids and also bring the gospel along with that. It was always so good. Often some of the young people would also present some of their songs as well. One Saturday we put on something what they call UG Kids Voice, it's like a dvbs, but we just did it for one day. Our theme was God's love and that God wants to be their friend. We played games, sang some kids songs in Luganda which I found super fun. Decorated heart cookies. And Nixon spoke to the kids about Jesus. This whole experience in Uganda was so amazing and I will treasure it forever. seriously. And I have a lot of stories but it is hard to summarize everything in a blog post but I will post some pictures. I also got the chance to go on a Safari with Kate and Brooke and it was so amazing. I watched a goat get slaughtered. I also learned the importance of fighting for your faith. Our house was always full of people, plus I shared a room with 4 girls. it was almost impossible to find a place where I could be alone alone with Jesus. so finally I went into the bathroom and the bathroom became my sanctuary. I am starting to see what it means to be in the secret place with Jesus. And it's so important. May my prayer always be that I will love Jesus more. Thanks so much for reading! I will add some pictures soon. I just arrived home from Uganda today! It's been a long 2 days of travelling. I will update you soon. Sorry I wasn't able to update you while I was there.
Hey, so I haven't posted in here since like, forever.
I am doing good. I have some news. I will be leaving for Africa in about 8 ish days. I will try my best to inform you what's going on at least a few times while I am there. Yeah I am super excited. I will be living with my cousin Chasity and her family. They run a youth ministry called Love All Ministries Uganda. And it's super awesome. I will be gone for a month and 10 days. So yeah prayer is amazing. And if you would like to talk to our heavenly Father on my behalf that would be so nice. I am thankful for his constant love for me. Prayers that I would hear his voice. But more that I would be obedient to his voice. For trust in him. To know his love. To know him more! Patience. Joy. The fruit of the Spirit. That I wouldn't really have culture shock, but I would find joy in experiencing the new culture. A heart to learn. But most of all that I would really come to know God. That I would really know him. And that in any serving that I do that it would come from a place of first love for God. And even prayer for learning Luganda (I believe the language is called that.) They do speak english there. But I have a thing for loving different languages so if I could learn some of that that would be awesome. Thanks again. You're amazing. Sooo me y mi familia are off to Mexico!!! I'm pretty excited. We are in Fargo right now, and have a lot of driving ahead of us! But yeah, I am beyond excited!! I have basically been waiting since March to go back.
Let's see what Jesus has in store for us this time!! Gracias for reading! I will try to update again. Hey if you want to see a video of my first trip to Mexico watch this!! :) |
